This glossary is not to insult someone's intelligence. We realize that the majority of dating websites users are familiar with the majority of the terms below. However, some terms are more specific than others and, since we use them frequently throughout the RuPersonal dating websites, we thought it would be to everyone's advantage to link to their brief explanations here.
IMBRA
A new United States law “International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005”. The main provisions of IMBRA place limits on a number of “K” visa petitions a man may file for his potential one among Russian brides in a certain time period, and also (most importantly) require that a man discloses to the lady all his past criminal history, visa petition history, past marital and divorce history, ages of children under age 18, BEFORE he can get her contact information, or otherwise communicate with her. The agency must collect this information, then check the National Sex Offender public registry and state public registry for each man, provide all this information to the lady, and secure a signed and written consent from the lady to release her contact information to that particular man.
More details
IMBRA clearance
According to IMBRA (explained above) before we can release any Russian brides personal contact information, the man requesting this information has to fill out a form requiring some background information (past criminal history, visa petition history, past marital and divorce history, ages of children under 18). Then, we run this information against National Sex Offender registry and state public registry. The cost of this process is $50.
IMBRA release
According to IMBRA (explained above), before we can release a lady's personal contact information, we have to secure her written consent for releasing this information to each individual man, requesting it. The beautiful Russian women are provided with the results of IMBRA clearance (explained above) for that man before they signs the release.
SIM card
SIM card (sometimes called a smart chip in the US) is that little yellow chip that goes inside a GSM phone and identifies your cell phone number. When you put your SIM card in another compatible phone, the new phone acquires your cell phone number and some settings. For example, you can transfer your phone book from your old phone to the new one. However, to be able to do that you will need to keep your phone book stored on the SIM card, as opposed to the internal phone memory. You can change the settings of where the contact numbers in your phone book are stored (in the internal phone memory or on the SIM card).
Spam
Spam is unsolicited email sent to multiple recipients without their consent, even on dating websites. Spamming is widely reviled, and has been the subject of legislation in a number of jurisdictions. Every email provider or Internet service provider employs some sort of spam filters to block a lot of spam from entering your inbox. Normally, those filters use a scoring system to decide whether or not a particular message is spam. Messages containing certain words, URLs, being addressed to multiple recipients, being sent from certain addresses and a variety of other factors contribute to a spam score, thing that also contributes to Russian brides scams. Messages with a high spam score get blocked and are not delivered into your inbox. Each email provider decides what spam filter to use and how strict it should be. There is no perfect spam filter. More lenient filters will allow more spam into your inbox. More strict ones will accidentally block legitimate emails from your friends, companies you deal with, etc. Most email providers give users an interface to manage their spam filters on some level.
CIS
Commonwealth of Independent States. A confederation of 11 former Soviet republics: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. CIS was created after the dissolution of USSR and that is were most beautiful Russian women on RuPersonal come from.

USCIS
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (until recently Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS). I don't know how much of my taxpayer's money went into this name change, and what was the intended purpose of it, but nothing in this organization has changed to the better. Same ridiculous hold times on the phone, same overworked understaffed personnel, same obscure and often contradicting instructions. Sorry, to give purely an opinion, but it shared by many others that had to deal with USCIS. However, you will still have to deal with it, if you try to get yours from amongst beautiful Russian women over here, whether through marriage, work, or any other ways. |
